Architecture & INterior Photoshoot for an Historic Manor house in Somerset

North Cadbury Court is a luxurious Grade 1 listed 16th century country house in Somerset. The house and its 1,500 acres is available for stays, family holidays, special celebrations and corporate get togethers.

THE BRIEF: Truthfully, there was no brief. This is where my Photography journey began. In my home village of North Cadbury, Somerset where I grew up living in one of the Estate cottages owned by The Montgomery family, working on the local fruit farm, and playing in their barns! Archie Montgomery even took me up in his hot air balloon, taking off from the front lawn one perfect summers evening. Back then Mrs Montgomery occupied this incredible 25 bedroom Manor House but when she passed on, the family invested heavily in the refurbishment of it and continue to expand on the offerings available at this incredible property.

THE SHOOT: I asked Janet & Archie if I could spend some time at the property honing my skills and in return, of course, they could use any imagery if they wanted. It was the coldest of January days that I took my mum as an assistant and walked some 10km a day around the house for several days exploring its grounds and taking my time documenting the beautiful building. The golden hour image you see of the impressive Georgian frontage is made up of 14 images blended together where I spent time using lighting to highlight each section of the building. There is a fair bit I would change about some of the shots, but I still love the hero images and feel incredibly lucky to have had the chance to build my portfolio in such a beautiful and historic home.
